Here’s your itinerary for the weekend! Like always I added bonus events to this newsletter (like an Afro beats Coffee shop set, Reggaeton Coffee shop set, Cumbia nights & more!). Okay for this week’s foodie rec I have to shoutout this night market in Chinatown. I genuinely felt like I wasn’t in L.A. - loved the vibe and most importantly- the food!

Friday September 5
Event with art, food, music and lowriders!
KCRW is teaming up with the Autry Museum of the American West for a late-summer night of music, art, food, and drinks. The Autry will be open late so guests can explore the special exhibition Black Cowboys: An American Story.
On Friday, Salsa con Sazón will hold a salsa social, showing how Dominican and Puerto Rican traditions shape the city’s nightlife.
I Love Micheladas will feature a Paisa Boys takeover during its First Fridays event, blending Mexican regional music, bands, and L.A.’s party scene.
Quiet Comedy is hosting a comedy show a Latino lineup, highlighting how L.A.’s comedy scene continues to carve out spaces for Latino voices.
Saturday September 6
Block Party in El Sereno !
On Saturday, La Plaza de Cultura y Artes will host a free community concert featuring Tierra, Mark Guerrero and others, as part of its exhibition “A Great Day in East L.A.: Celebrando the Eastside Sound,” which explores the musical legacy of East Los Angeles.
LA Culture Day, hosted by Pot Studio LA, celebrates immigrant and diaspora communities through art, food and activities, reflecting how L.A.’s diversity and solidarity shape its culture
Grand Park and Molina will host a free block party this Saturday in partnership with KCRW, celebrating Los Angeles culture and community with DJs, art walks and even a drone show. (Blck house radio will also be here!) *my top pick
Privadas con el Ocho is a rooftop party in DTLA with all latino DJs playing reggeaton cumbia and more ✨
“Too Sweet,” curated by South Gate twins the Perez brothers, Alejandro and Vicente Pérez, brings together 50 artists whose work reflects the brothers’ roots in Los Angeles’ lowrider and Chicano culture.

Sunday September 7
On Sunday, WalkGood LA will host BreatheGood, the city’s largest community yoga gathering, at Kenneth Hahn Park.
Barrio Athletics stages a 5K Sunday in South Central—including DJs and a coffee cart—rooted in local fitness and community uplift.

There’s a Cumbia y Vino event in Long Beach, hosted by Valeria, featuring vinyl DJ sets, airbrushed goods and more.
Astropical, a new supergroup created by Colombia’s Bomba Estéreo and Venezuela’s Rawayana, will make its Los Angeles debut at the Hollywood Bowl. Part of the KCRW Festival and LA Phil’s Latin Music Concert Series, the show will turn the venue into a dance floor.
It’s also Brazil’s Independence Day ! I couldn’t find too much but heading to a Brazilian restaurant should be fun
