Happy August 1st! ☀️
How’s everyone feeling? I’m entering the month with big goals- more community, more storytelling, more soft adventure. And this weekend feels like the perfect place to start!
It’s one of the busiest lineups I’ve seen all summer: free concerts, art shows, after-hours galleries, and more! (Perfect spots to take a date, take a friend, plan a solo artist trip!)

August 1
On Friday, there’s this art show called La Voz de la Tierra, it’s also a fundraiser hosted by a Oaxacan artist, alongside Sin Buena Productions. There will be Dj’s and a showcase from over 50 artis happening from 7-12:30 a.m. Part of the proceeds will go to CHIRLA to support those affected by the recent ICE raids.
KCRW Summer Nights is back this Friday at the California African American Museum. It’s free, outdoors, and you already know there’s gonna be DJs, food trucks, and after hours access to all exhibitions, happening from 7-11pm
Mercado Pa La Raza is a Mercado and art exhibition happening from 2-9 p.m. at Plaza de La Raza. There will be mariachis, local dj’s and showcasing work form 16 artists!
Midcity Mercado is teaming up with CHIRLA to host Know your Rights workshops for employers, creators, and the general public. 3-8:30.
Saturday August 2
There’s this event called Negritude Fest which will be happening at LA Plaza — it’s a free festivals that’s all about celebrating Afro-Latino culture and really centers queer and femme voices. Happening from 2-8pm.
There’s a free concert series happening at MacArthur Park, hosted by Levitt LA. This Saturday, Eddie Chacon and The Heart Tones are performing—expect oldies, R&B, and just good vibes all around. Presented by Hello Stranger and happening from 7- 10 p.m.
If you’re looking for plans this Saturday, De Los is co-sponsoring a free concert with Grand Performances featuring Adrian Quesada. It’s a blend of Latin soul and psychedelic boleros — perfect for a summer night. The show runs from 6 to 10 p.m. at California Plaza in DTLA, with performances by El Marchante and Explorare

Sunday August 3
On Sunday, Girls Con Cameras is hosting a social at Asteroid Vinyl Café in Inglewood — a chance for photographers of all levels to connect. It starts at 1 p.m., and everyone’s welcome
On Sunday from 4-8. There will be a free Live Salsa and Latin Jazz performance by Alex Santos Orchestra, happening in Venice.
RNB and Ribs is coming to L.A, and it’s exactly what it sounds like. Outdoor cookout energy meets R&B DJ sets and will be happening from 4-9 p.m.
Also DineLA is happening they have specials until August 8! Like even plates for $35 (that include appetizers, entrees, and more) if you’re on a budget but want to feel fancy def check it out. Treat yourself!
