Here’s what’s happening this weekend in L.A. (11/28-11/30)✨
Community events *to giveback* + Cumbia+ run clubs
Hi guys,
Happy Thanksgiving! 😇 I hope you are all sharing it with close family, friends, or even treating yourself out on a new Thanksgiving tradition. Since I’m from L.A., I usually spend this weekend catching up with friends who have moved out of L.A. and go out.
New Netflix Rec⭐️: I just watched the new Selena y Los Dinos documentary last night. It was so inspiring. I definitely related to Selena’s vision of crossing over to the American side while holding on to her Mexican American roots. For me, I’ve personally always wanted Latino culture and experiences to just * Be * a part of travel culture. So inspiring to see that she accomplished a dream that hadn’t existed before!
I also wanted to take a second to say thank you! Thank you for following and trusting my recs to highlight local culture, something that is so overlooked in LA!
So - If you’re still looking for plans this Thanksgiving weekend in LA, I got you.
This weekend is all about giving back, community spaces, and places to spend time with your family or friends across LA. So let’s get into it.
Friday, November 28
First up, All Heat No ICE is throwing a fundraiser for immigrant rights organizations and folks directly impacted by the recent raids.
It’s an 18+ event with DJs, raffles, and a community resource table, really turning nightlife into community care.
Next is Gothsgiving, a celebration of dark dembow, post-punk perreo, guaracha rave, and global club sounds.
If you’re craving something high-energy and cultural, this is the spot- blending global club culture with LA’s underground roots.
From PueblaYorkCity to PuebLA, Film Dot Org is hosting a night highlighting Kumbias Mezcladas with full latino lineup mixing reggaeton, cumbia, and oldies to connect Latino communities across cities
Afters, Latino Led, Capicua After Dark
On Friday Palenque is back, tocando los mejores exitos!

If you’re looking to give back, Uprisers is hosting their 4th Annual Family Drive.
You can volunteer, help create care kits, and join workshops like breathwork, pickleball, and even clay sessions, a reminder of how mutual aid keeps LA going.
Saturday is also Small Business Saturday, and Kids of Immigrants and Life Development University are teaming up for a big community marketplace.
There will be food, DJs, conversations, and a lineup of community-rooted brands, all centered on cooperative economics and keeping wealth in the community.
Two Latino-owned businesses, Sueño Social Club and Suavecito Run Club, are hosting a holiday Mercado and 3K run/walk.
After the movement, there’s gifting, a photo station, and a full lineup of small businesses, showing how movement can be a form of connection.
