Quick life update, I got hit with the flu this week and have been recovering, but I’ll be good by Saturday. I’ll actually be traveling that day (only you guys know 👀🤍) — heading to South America for a friend’s birthday trip.
Anyways, with MLK weekend coming up, this week’s list includes dance nights, family-friendly events, and ways to show up for the community!

Friday January 16
First up on Friday is Hománticas. This is a perreo party for him, hers, and theirs.
It’s happening at a secret location from 11 PM to late. It’s hosted by Blemmed, Terkos Party Crew, and Cielo, so expect reggaeton and perreo all night.
This one is for people looking to dance.
Also on Friday is Flicks and Sips.
This is an immersive photography experience hosted by Flavors From Afar.
You’ll move through zines, albums, and photo scans while sipping wine and listening to sound throughout the space.

Central American Dj Duo, Casamiento, will be playing at Blind Barber in Highland Park
Club Cielo is happening (expect Latin Club, Baile Funk + more)
Saturday January 17
If you’re looking for something free and family-friendly, Vamos a Bailar Salsa is happening at Delicious Pizza on West Adams.There will be a special vinyl set.
It’s an afternoon with pizza, coffee, wine, and salsa dancing.
For pet parents, there’s a sip and paint for you and your pet.
This is a beginner-friendly paint and sip for ages 13 and up.
There are two sessions, and it’s meant to be relaxed and fun.
Salsa and Brunch is hosting their first-ever event at a Korean and Colombian fusion bar and grill. There will be a free lesson. Then dancing for the rest of the afternoon.
If you like flea markets, 1042 is back in Pasadena.

On Sunday, Salsa on Sunset is back.
There’s a free salsa class, followed by a dance party.
There’s Stoop Sale happening with an all-women DJ and vendor lineup, making it a neighborhood-style pop-up with music and local vendors throughout the day.”

Monday January 19
On Monday, LA Works is hosting the largest MLK Day volunteer festival on the West Coast. It’s happening at the LA Memorial Coliseum.This event is free and all ages are welcome. Volunteer opportunities include wildfire recovery, supporting immigrant communities, and helping displaced families.
Also on Monday, CAAAM is free to attend in honor of MLK Day.
